For the first time in our kennel's history, a long-haired Akita Inu puppy has been born - a truly rare and special sight. This type of coat is the result of a recessive gene, which means that both parents must be carriers for the puppy to inherit this particular feature. Although these dogs cannot breed to official breeding standards, they meet all other breed characteristics and remain true Akita Inus with pedigree and distinct traits.
What are Akita Inu "Long Coat"
Long-haired Akita Inus, also known as Akita Inu Long Coat, have a softer, richer and longer coat than the standard version. Their texture is 'teddy bear-like' and the longer hairs give a sleek and highly photogenic look.
This particularity has its origins in the breed's history, being the result of ancient crossbreeding with Nordic-type dogs, where the long coat offered extra protection in areas with harsh winters.
Why they are so appealing to children
The long-haired Akita Inu impresses at first sight with their beauty, but especially with their fluffy, cuddle-inviting fur. For children, these dogs quickly become ideal playmates:
- Friendly and gentle teddy bear-like appearance.
- Calm and protective nature, typical of the well-socialized Akita Inu.
- Soft and pleasant to the touch, it provides emotional comfort and stimulates affection.
Although they are large dogs and need respect and discipline, their relationship with children can be a special one based on mutual respect and deep loyalty.
In conclusion, this first long-haired litter in our kennel marks a truly memorable moment and we are happy to share it with breed lovers. His beauty and uniqueness are proof that sometimes nature provides us with delightful surprises.
